CLIMAAX (CLIMAte risk and vulnerability Assessment framework and toolboX) providing financial, analytical and practical support to European regions and communities to improve regional climate and emergency risk management plans. The project will develop a framework and methodology of climate risk assessments, which will be supported in their implementation by a climate toolbox to put plans into actions.
Project objectives

Co-design a harmonised methodological framework to assess the climate change risks and impacts at the regional scale across Europe

Develop an operational multi-risk assessment methodological framework and supporting toolbox

Develop improved community-based emergency and risk management plans in >50 regions

Support the adjustment of current multi-hazard early warning systems

Help regions and communities to efficiently access currently available information on climate change impacts and climate data services

Create an active community of practice (CoP) network
ECMWF's contribution
ECMWF will develop and implement the CLIMAAX toolbox, building on existing tools such as the Copernicus climate data store and toolbox. Further, ECMWF will offer support and development of the toolbox throughout the duration of the project.
