The ECMWF GRIBEX software has been developed for encoding and decoding WMO FM-92 GRIB code messages and some ancillary subroutines for controlling printing and debugging.
LicenseThis software is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License which incorporates the terms and conditions of version 3 of the GNU General Public License. DescriptionThis software covers the subset of GRIB (GRIdded Binary) in products used and produced at ECMWF. The GRIBEX software was developed at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. It is used operationally at ECMWF and so is liable to change from time to time as extensions are made to the GRIB format and, in particular, as local changes are made in the usage of section 1. A new cycle of this public version is created from time to time to consolidate operational extensions. RoadmapECMWF is currently developing a replacement for GRIBEX called GRIB API.
