A limited number of power points will be made available. Note that like everywhere in the UK, power comes in 230V. Please make sure that your laptop transformer is able to handle this voltage. Note also that the UK uses distinctive 3 prong plugs, quite different from plugs found on the continent or in the States. Make sure to bring the adequate plug adaptors. Registered attendees will be provided lunch at ECMWF’s restaurant for the three days of the conference. The cost of these lunches is included in the registration fee. AccommodationPlenty of hotels are available in and around Reading. See http://www.ecmwf.int/about/location/hotels.html for a small selection of these. If you are planning to visit London or other parts of the country using the train system, you may prefer to stay in central Reading. London is approximately 40 minutes away from Reading, by fast train (Paddington Station) or 1h30m by slow train (Waterloo Station). Special rates can be obtained at the George Hotel (number 2 on the map) , if you mention that you attend a conference at ECMWF (or the “European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast”). Although you are encouraged to do your own bookings, ECMWF can help organise some reservations should you have problems with your bookings.
