Location: ECMWF Headquarters at Shinfield Park, near Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom Environment: The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) is an international organisation supported by 31 States*. Its prime objectives are the operational production of analyses, medium-range forecasts of weather and ocean waves and seasonal forecasts, as well as scientific and technical research directed to the improvement of these forecasts. ECMWF operates a large computing facility including supercomputers, data archiving systems and networks. For details see: Main duties: This part-time post (20 hours per week, ideally 4 hours per day) is located in the Administration Department of ECMWF and forms an integrated part of a small team providing secretarial and clerical support to the various Sections within the Department. Some flexibility in the working hours will be required from time to time. The main duties of this post are:
Qualifications: The successful candidate should be of English mother tongue and have an excellent command of written English, as well as good writing skills. Experience in writing and/or editing documents would be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will work in close cooperation with the Centre’s Translator. This position would suit a recent translation or English graduate. Experience in word-processing (MS-Word or similar) is essential and competency in MS-Excel, Adobe, web publishing software and MS-Powerpoint would also be advantageous. The selected candidate should be willing to learn new programmes and must be able to integrate into a small team of international staff.Remuneration: £1,300.00 per month net of tax. A deduction of either £33.62 per beneficiary or 4.38% of the monthly remuneration will be made for the supplementary health insurance scheme. Starting date: 1 July 2010.
